Used to reduce low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, lipopretein band triglycerides and to increase high-density cholesterol in the treatment of hyperlipidaemias. Also used as adjunct treatment in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia and is given prophylactically to hypercholesterolaemic patients with ischaemic heart disease.
